Why Habitica's game can feel thin
Habitica has a lot of game: classes, quests, bosses, pets, mounts. But it all lives on a character sheet. You see a pixel-art avatar, a few bars and stats, and gear that changes a few pixels. Between two tasks, nothing on screen has changed, and nothing you earned takes up space anywhere.
That is the gap Taskmura fills: the reward is not a number going up, it is a place you can look at.
What you build in Taskmura
- A village you lay out yourself. Tap a free tile and build there. Move a building later, swap two of them, clear a forest or put rocks and trees back where you want them.
- Buildings that work. The sawmill, the mine and the fields produce wood, stone and food. Houses bring villagers, who walk the streets between your buildings and take jobs in them.
- A village that grows up. From a camp to a hamlet, a village, a town and up to a kingdom: 75 levels unlock new buildings, upgrades and more land.
- An island in 3D. Turn it around, zoom in, watch the smoke rise from the chimneys and the sawmill blade turn.
Your tasks pay for all of it: check a task off, and at the castle the elder pays it out in gold and XP. More on how that loop works: a gamified to-do list that builds a village.
A to-do list that holds up
Priority and difficulty on two separate sliders, due dates, sub-tasks, tags, pinned quests, sorting and filters. Rituals cover dailies, weekly goals and habits counted day by day, like Habitica's. The list works on its own; the village is what it builds.

Where Habitica is better
If you play Habitica for your party, stay there: Taskmura has no parties, bosses or guilds, and no pets to collect. It has no calendar view either, and rituals repeat daily or weekly, not monthly. Habitica has also been around for more than ten years, with a large community and a wiki.
Questions
Can I choose what my village looks like?
You choose where every building goes, and you can move or swap them later. You also decide where the forest, the rocks and the free land are. Alternative looks for each building are not in the game yet.
Do I have to play the game to use the list?
No. The list and the rituals work on their own. The village is there whenever you want to spend what you earned.
Can I import my Habitica tasks?
Not yet. Creating a quest takes a few seconds, and you can check it off right away: logging something you already did still pays.
Is Taskmura free like Habitica?
Yes, and there is no subscription. If paid options come one day, they will buy time or looks, never progress.
